Danielle and Andie are the proud owners of SlimmDress - an invisible corset that makes women appear slimmer.  They have been good friends since childhood and are also successful business partners.  The relationship has become strained since they received an offer from a high-end lingerie brand offering to buy out SlimmDress for $2 million.  Andie is opposed to the idea, but Danielle insists it would be a smart business opportunity. Unable to agree on the offer, both women are thinking of parting ways.  Neither can decide who is entitled to solely own SlimmDress.  Andie argues that since it was her idea, Slimmdress should remain with her. Danielle disagrees as she initially financed the whole creation.  Without the initial investment, SlimmDress would not be in business.  They both agree to mediate and contact Community Justice Initiatives. Mediators meet with Danielle and Andie.  They are both angry and are willing to risk everything in order to keep SlimmDress.  The mediators shift their focus from the conflict of owning SlimmDress to their relationship with each other.  It is evident that both have been harmed emotionally by their conduct with each other.  Andie feels that Danielle is taking advantage of her and is only looking out for her own interests while Danielle feels that Andie is taking all the credit for SlimmDress. With the assistance of the mediators, the two women are able to see past their differences and shift their focus from blaming each other to understanding one another.  Andie realizes SlimmDress is successful because of Danielle’s expertise in business and her financial contribution starting the business. Danielle understands why Andie opposes selling SlimmDress.  Andie is proud of the product she designed and enjoys working together with Danielle in the business.

"Mediation was undeniably the best solution to our intricate problem.  Not only were we able to save our business SlimmDress, but more importantly we were able to salvage our relationship." What We Do

Workplace Mediation Service offers employers and employees an informal, voluntary and confidential process to address conflict within the workplace.  Two mediators meet individually with the parties to hear from their perspective what the issues of conflict are.  The mediators then meet with all the parties together and assist the parties in communicating their positions to each other.  The participants explore possible solutions that satisfy everyone involved.  Typical issues that can be addressed:  disputes between employers and/or employees, deteriorating performances, sexual harassment, discipline issues, personality differences, etc.
