This workshop emphasizes the development of practical skills to resolve interpersonal conflict and to facilitate mediation.  The workshop explores skills and develops strategies that enhance effective communication and are essential when facilitating conflict resolution.  Role-theory and practice are an essential part of the training; coaches assist with the role-plays.

Workshop topics covered include conflict management styles, empathetic listening, expressing oneself, analysis of conflict, preparing people for mediation, transformative mediation, variations on the mediation process, and dealing with challenging situations.

All persons desiring to volunteer with CJI must complete a Volunteer Application Form (go to "Volunteer" page of this website), attend a Volunteer  Orientation evening, and participate in an interview prior to attending program training. Following program training, volunteers must also attend a Volunteer Premises Orientation evening as well.
