Workshop topics covered include conflict management styles, empathetic listening, expressing oneself, analysis of conflict, preparing people for mediation, transformative mediation, variations on the mediation process, and dealing with challenging situations.

All persons desiring to volunteer with CJI must complete a Volunteer Application Form (go to "Volunteer" page of this website), attend a Volunteer  Orientation evening, and participate in an interview prior to attending program training. Following program training, volunteers must also attend a Volunteer Premises Orientation evening as well. Community Justice Initiatives is partnering with Conrad Grebel University College to offer this mediation training workshp as one credit towards a Certificate in Conflict Management.  Conrad Grebel University College has the longest standing Peace and Conflict Studies program in Canada.  The Certificate Program is desgined to provide  practical and relevent skills training in conflict management.
