Community Justice Initiatives, as an active member of the Crime Prevention Council of the Waterloo Region, is pleased to share the following position paper/communiqué with respect to the impact of Bill C-15. This bill prohibits judges from using their knowledge to assess cases on and individual basis in determining suitable sentences. Keeping discretion in the hands of qualified professionals ensures that drug offenses are dealt with in a just manner with a view to prevention beyond jails.
