Facilitated Dialogue PDF Print E-mail

Facilitated Dialogues are conversations between people affected by sexual trauma that are guided by trained facilitators who create a safe environment, where questions can be asked and everyone is respectfully heard.  It is a personalized process designed to meet the needs of participants.

Facilitated Dialogues are for individuals, families and community groups (e.g. faith communities) impacted by sexual trauma.  For example, a dialogue can include a survivor of sexual trauma, the person who harmed them, as well as others affected by the abuse, like siblings, parents, close friends and partners.  Trained facilitators meet with each participant in advance to determine safety and appropriateness, keeping in mind the guiding principles of safety and respect.

A Facilitated Dialogue can take many forms, including face-to-face meeting, letter writing or video conferencing.
